Oil bar paintings today

Today I managed to put an extra layer on Tuesdays and Wednesdays paintings, having great fun with the oil bars

Winsor and Newton oilbars arrived

Managed to have a quick go with my new oil bars that

arrived today in the post, they are great to work with very quick, En plein air landscape of Mormond Hill again, they are great for a painterly effect not for detail, need to paint bigger, better if working very few layers, maybe need to leave this a day or so to dry, no brushes were use to paint this just the bars and my fingers

This is nearly finished just a few things to change did a bit more at art class last Wednesday,
 been a busy week with birthdays and been in at the local school helping them with a mosaic project, I have ordered some art stuff with my birthday money and after some deliberation and trawling the internet for bargains, I have ordered some colourmount pastel board, more neopastel oil pastels, more colourfix clear primer, zest-it solvent and a set of Winsor and Newton Artist oil bars that I got reduced,  haven't tried the oil bars before I cant wait to try them out and see what they are like, watch this space!!!!!, only thing now is I have to wait in for deliveries to come by

Homemade willow charcoal

This is my second attempt at making willow charcoal, next time I will need to use thicker pieces of wool, cut pieces of willow so they would fit in to old metal sweety tin, take bark of them, fill the tin up to the top put 5 holes in the lid and put on top of outside camp fire or barbeque coals that are grey ash colour, leave until fire goes out and tin has cooled down, then you will have hopefully some charcoal, be carefull with fire (dangerous) and make sure you make holes in lid so steam and gas can escape.

A quick cloud sketch using homemade charcoal, I was surprised hoe well the willow charcoal turned out it, is very fragile but does the job

A very quick sketch using a pen and then a watercolour wash on top today's daily painting, I missed art class my daughter and I have cold and coughs, they were going to do pen and ink today, so did a view from my conservatory
